The Gujarat government has cleared a proposal for setting up a 50 hectares ‘tiger safari’ near Narmada dam between Garudeshwar and Tilakwada with 8 zoo-bred tigers including 4 cubs. The proposal has been sent for approval to the Central Zoo Authority of India. Initial allocation of Rs 4 crore has been made for this project which will once materialized provide opportunity to visitors to sit in enclosed bus and watch tigers in natural condition. Tigers were reported extinct in Gujarat in 1998.
