Indian Coast Guard Ship C-156 was commissioned today at Porbandar.

The induction is part of ongoing effort by the Coast Guard to strengthen coastal security. It will strengthen the security umbrella over 1600 km long coast of Gujarat and also help augment patrolling and prevent illicit activities such as infiltration, smuggling and illegal fishing.

ICGS C-156 shall be based at Pipavav under the administrative and operational control of the Commander Coast Guard Region (North -West).

Gujarat Chief Secretary GR Aloria commissioned the-state-of-the-art patrol ship built by M/s Bharti Ship Yard, Goa, in presence of Inspector General VS Pathania, Coast Guard Commander (North West) and other distinguished guests from various Central and State agencies.

Defence Spokesperson Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman said that the 27.65 meters long ship with 107 tones can achieve a maximum speed of 35 knots. The vessel is fitted with cutting edge navigation and communication equipment.
