Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today performed ‘Shastra Puja’ (weapon worship) on the occasion of Dussehra at his house in Gandhinagar. Weapons worshiped were those used by Modi’s security jawans.
Dussehra festival is the day to worship the weapons as well, the tradition going back to Mahabharat.
Performing the rituals, Modi also gave a pep talk to personnel of various security forces present at the ceremony.
Commenting on the long-standing issue of Ram Setu, Modi said, it was a source of faith for the people and attempts were being made to destroy it.
“The stones which were set afloat in sea with Ram written on them, have been a source of faith for more than thousand years. But these days, conspiracy is being hatched to destroy that Setu and uproot our cultural heritage,” he said.
