Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s international general secretary Pravin Togadia today filed complaint against Zakia Jafri and Tanvir Jafri in Ellis Bridge police station of Ahmedabad and demanded arrests of both for filing wrong complaint against him.

Yesterday Tanvir Jafri, son of late Congress MP Ahesan Jafri had visited state police chief Shabbir Khandawawala to file complaint against Pravin Togadia for the statement Togadia made after SIT investigation in Gandhinagar early this week.

Togadia had in his statement said that he would take proper action at proper time against Zakia Jafri-widow of Ahesan Jafri and Teesta Javed. Tanvir,son of Zakia Jafri interpreted this statement as threat against his mother and Teesta Javed and went to state police chief to file complaint against Togadia.

But in newer development, Shri Togadia himself today filed a complaint against Tanvir Jafri in Ahmedabad’s Ellis bridge police station. Shri Togadia was accompanied by his supporters and advocate.

Speaking to reporters gathered at Police station, Shri Togadia said, “where did I meet Tanvir Jafri and Zakia Jafri? When did I talk with them over a phone call? When did I threaten them and where? If I didn’t meet them, didn’t talk with them and even though they allege that I have threatened them, then this means that they are conspiring to frame thousands of Hindus of Gujarat using same tactic of making wrong allegations. Therefore I have filed a complaint demanding to investigate who are others behing this wrong evidences and wrong allegations. They should be immediately arrested under IPC 500, IPC 153C for making wrong references and wrong allegations.”

-Togadia said, “I am a common man of Gujarat and therefore came here to lodge police complaint having faith on police inspector. But DGP Khandawawala is Muslim and therefore Zakia Jafry’s son went to him directly to request the investigaton against me. They don’t have faith on any other policeman, but because Khandawawala is Muslim, they have faith only on him.”

-After filing the complaint, Mr. Togadia told journalists that he suspected that the Jaffreys were trying to “provoke communal violence” in the State. Recalling the May 10 incident, Mr. Togadia said he was summoned by the SIT because of a “false complaint” by Ms. Jaffrey. “I had then said [that] at an appropriate time I will take an appropriate action against them. This is my democratic and legal right.”

-Ellisbridge police station inspector KD Pandya said, this is serious non-cognizable offense. A complaint will be sent to court and then after a decision on arrest would be taken. Also senior police officials will be consulted.

-Togadia was here in Ahmedabad to file the complaint state from Madurai where he heard Tanvir Jafri had filed complaint against him to the DGP Khandawawala.
