Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi should break her silence and answer who was “Maut Ka Saudagar” when thousands of people were killed in 1984 Bhopal tragedy.

Modi was speaking in Patna’s Swabhiman rally, organized by BJP.

“Maut Ke Saudagar” was a terminology used by Sonia Gandhi during the Gujarat assembly election campaign in year 2007 for Narendra Modi in connection with gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh’s encounter. Modi had turned this terminology in his favor and attacked Sonia throughout the campaign then after to win the election.

Amidst allegations made by insiders involved in 1984 post-Bhopal affairs that Congress leaders including then Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Arjun Singh and then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi were responsible in release of a key person responsible for gas tragedy, Narendra Modi asked Sonia to tell who was “Maut ka saudagar” when it comes to Bhopal tragedy.

“For last some day discussion is going on about Bhopal gas tragedy. Skeletons are coming out one by one. To save some people, responsible for tragedy, how CBI was misused, and how great efforts were made, is now coming in public. Not we, but persons of their party(Congress) are revealing facts in this connection. When all major central govt advertisements contain Sonia Gandhi’s photo, she is surely an important person in centre, and therefore she should break her silence. The nation wants to know who was maut ka saudagar of Bhopal. The nation asks why madom Sonia is silent” Modi added.
