Dr. Jyoti Pandya has been elected new Mayor of Vadodara city while Arvind Patel has been elected Deputy Mayor.
Both Mrs. Pandya and Mr. Patel will hold their respective post for two and half years starting from today.
The other important post of Standing Committee Chairman has been assigned to Shri Shabdasharana Brahmbhatt.
Jyoti Pandya is Doctor by profession, while Arvind Patel is newcomer elected in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation.
The seat of Mayor is reserved for woman councilor this time, thanks to which the party had to decide the name of new Mayor from 20 women councilors.
Vadodara Municipal Corporation came in to exist in year 1966. From then till now, the city has witnessed 25 different Mayor. Jyotiben is thus the 26th Mayor of the city, and 10th Mayor from Bharatiya Janata Party.
Gujarat’s three cities:Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, and Vadodara got new Mayor today. Tomorrow there will be an election of new Mayor in Rajkot and Surat. Ahmedabad already got its new Mayor last month.
