Rs 650 crore projects likely to be announced at ISAAME , Ahmedabad

Community service projects worth $100 million or Rs. 650 crore are slated to be announced in the 43rd forum of the International Association of Lions Clubs India, South Asia, Africa and Middle East (ISAAME) to be held at Mahatma
Mandir, Gandhinagar and the Sabarmati River Front and IIM in Ahmedabad from December 16 to 20 this year.

Addressing a press conference here today Mr. Pravin Chhajjed, Chairman, ISAAME Forum said that the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is the knowledge partner of the triennial event and all seminars related to it would be held there.

Over 5000 global delegates spanning 50 countries are expected to participate in the five day event which will also show case a dance performance by noted actress Madhuri Dixit Nene as part of its cultural activity.
A key highlight of the event is a memorable parade of nations in national attire, beginning from C.G. Road to Stadium on December 18. The Sabarmati River Front will witness the melody of noted Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila as part of the event on December 19.

This is the second time that Ahmedabad will be hosting this event , the previous one being in 2004 when Shri Narendra Modi was Chief Minister.

Talking about the Lions club’s activities in Ahmedabad Mr. Chhajjed said “Lions of Ahmedabad will be starting off a new blood bank, a Swajangruh Near Civil Hospital, a physiotherapy college for the blind and a Lions Kidney Foundation on the occasion. In addition, the local Lions will also initiate a project for personal hygiene for the girl child in municipal schools. The project worth is about Rs. 30 crore.’
