Ahmedabad
Due to closure of 3.5 km runway for Rs 30 crore maintenance work during 10.00 am to 6.00 pm at Sardar Patel airport in Ahmedabad post 16 April, congestion during peak hours(5.00 am to 10.00 pm and 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm) is expected to increase here. The Airport Authority of India has therefore issued directions for passengers to report at least two hours prior to the departure.
Closure of the runway at airport will be effective from April 16. Summer schedule of flights will be effective from march 27.
There will be around 35 flights(inbound and outbound both) between 5-10 am which comes to seven flights per hour and about 1800 passengers in two hours. An aircraft generally takes-off in 40 minutes after landing. If 3-4 planes seek take-off, then four-minute different can be maintained between take-off of each aircraft. Arrival of flights may not be a problem due to congestion.
