Village evacuated after massive fire in Chemical factory in Dahej, 15 sustain burn injuries in another fire incident in Surat

Bharuch/Surat: A village was evacuated in the wake of a major fire in a chemical factory in Dahej industrial area of Bharuch district yesterday in which no loss of life has been reported while in another incident of fire in a timber mill in Surat left 15 of its workers injured last night.
Police today said that a fire broke out in Sterling Chemical in Dahej yesterday which engulfed and burnt the whole factory. Over a dozen fire fighting vehicles were deployed in control operations. As a precautionary measure production in two other chemical factories situated nearby was stopped while Abheta village was evacuated owing to the fear of leakage of Ammonia gas from a tank in the fire hit factory premises. Experts were trying to reach the tank and fix it in a way that any chance of leakage of gas is averted. The fire was doused by 11 pm last night after around 7 hours of control operation.
In yet another incident last night a fire broke out in a private timber saw mill in Sachin are of Surat owing to blast in its boiler. Around 15 workers received burn injuries and were admitted to the Civil hospital here. The fire was controlled after around 3 hours of dousing operation at around 11 pm.
