Statue of Unity 86% complete, opening on October 31st, Chief Minister visits the site

Bharuch: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, Chief Secretary Dr. JN Singh, K Kailashnathan today morning reached the site of the Statue of Unity at Kevadia Colony in Central Gujarat. Statue of Unity is the tallest statue in the world in making. The statue is going to be dedicated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31st, the anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It was Modi who conceived and initiated this project as Chief Minister of Gujarat. This is yet another visit to site by Chief Minister in recent time. At present, outer bronze layer is being applied to statue. Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said that works for statue are going on round the clock. The dedicating ceremony on October 31st would be the biggest in India, as it would be an event of global interest, added Nitin Patel.
– Steel structure work to complete by September 20th, bronze work would complete by October 10th, complete finishing will be over by October October 25th.
– A 52-room Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan will be built near Statue of Unity
– Entire complex will be world-class. Cleanliness, security, cafeteria, food court etc facilities will be developed as per global standards
– 182 meter high state will see use of 1,40,000 mt concrete, 18,500 mt steel and 70,000 mt cement and 2,000 mt bronze
– Surface area of statue is 22,000 square meter
– Cost involved in this project is around Rs 2,989 crore
– The works involve the tallest statue of the world, its foundation, exhibition hall, memorial, visitor centre, bridge connecting Sadhu tekri to statue, Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan and four lane road connecting memorial centre and Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan
– The area of bronze layer is 22,600 square meter and its weight is 1700 mt
– The work has achieved 86% physical progress so far
– The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister also discussed development of valley of flower, tourism facilities and boating attraction
– The Chief Minister made suggestion to start haat bazaar so that local rural and tribal families may have opportunity to earn from visitors
