AMC removes dangerous portion of minaret of Ek Toda mosque in Dolatkhana area

Ahmedabad: Fire and Emergency Services of Amdavad Municipal Corporation(AMC) today removed dangerous portion of a minaret of Ek Toda mosque in Dolatkhana area of Khadia locality in wall city area following damage caused by a bolt of lightening on September 22.
The mosque is believed to have been built in 1562 AD by Sheikh Mohammed Ghous ul Alam of Gwalior. He stayed in Ahmdabad for ten years and preached Sufi Shattari tradition. His original name was Hamiddun Din. The mosque has 32 pillars. Located next to the minaret cow sheds of Rabarivas.
Late on Saturday, a lightning caused a major damage to a minaret following which heavy sandstone tiles blasted off the sides of the minaret.The mosque belongs to a trust originally owned by Mutwali Sajjada Nashin Pir Zada Saiyed Nayyar Ahmed.
