4,647 sq.m. museum dedicated to Sardar Patel to open at Statue of Unity

Bharuch: A 4,647 square meter audio visual exhibition with use of state-of-the-art technology has been set up under the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue of the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit this exhibition on 31st of October after inaugurating the statue.

A 18 ft high bronze statue will showcase the statue of unity to visitors. A video wall will showcase the process of construction of statue of unity. An audio-video kiosk will offer details of how iron and soil from various states was contributed to this project.

72-ft high exhibition hall has material collected from National Archives of India, Nehru Memorial, Rashtrapati Bhavan, National Gandhi Museum, Middle Temple London, Bharatiya Vidyabhavan Mumbai, Maharshtra State Archives, Manibhavan Mumbai, Sabarmati Ashram Ahmedabad, Swarj Ashram Bardoli/Ahmedabad, Gujarat Vidyapith, Vir Vitthalbhai Patel and Sardar House Karamsad, Sardar Patel University Vallabh Vidyanagar, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar and Hyderabad State Archives, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Trust Jantarmantar, Parliament Museum, Parliament Library, All India Radio, National Film Development Corporation, MJ Library Ahmedabad etc places.

Real footage of Sardar Patel are in display at museum. 16 films are presented featuring merger of various native states in Union of India. Books related to Sardar Patel are placed in library.

Sardar Patel’s struggle against British rule, division of India, merger of native states, Shul Paneshwar sanctuary, tribal life and culture, Sardar Sarovar dam etc are presented through photographs and audio-visual mediums here.
