Under the full moon, Modi in full mood
By our correspondent
Dhordo/Rann of Kutch, DeshGujarat, 13 December, 2008
It was sun set time and full moon was emerging slowly. The sky was colorful like an artist’s expression. The evening was pleasant with a gentle breeze and complete silence. The place was the Kutch Rann Utsav’s Dhordo tent city in Rann of Kutch and the person in a different mood here was Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Dressed in a blazer, t-shirt and muffler, Modi had just came out from his ultra royal tent after a little rest. He told his security men to stop and started walking alone in the direction of the Rann of Kutch for some distance. After walking a couple of hundred steps when he was returning back to his tent, he saw a group of photographers at some distance. Modi called them near.
Photographers wanted to click Modi with the full moon. Modi did everything to support each photographer’s idea. Lens men overwhelmingly clicked the full moon in Modi’s hands and on his back.
After some time, Modi said “you have clicked enough photos of mine, now I want to have my picture with you.” One by one almost all lens men stood with Modi to have a picture with him. District level photographers were very happy and couldn’t stop their joyful smiling. Modi himself took one of the cameras in his hand to click the picture.
And then it was time to go inside the white salty surface area of the Rann of Kutch some three kms away from the Dhordo tent city tourism facility. Modi dressed in a black t-shirt himself rode the camel cart. He met a group of foreign tourists soon after he reached inside the Rann. Almost three hour long Kutch oriented cultural program and traditional Kutchi dinner followed this.
In his short address Modi said “Here is a desert, but we have brought progress into the desert, by organizing the Kutch Rann Utsav on regular bases. This silver white surface of Rann of Kutch can attract thousands of tourists from all over the world. The Gujarat government organizes Rann Utsav tourism event once in a year, but on non-government bases, this activity should go on throughout the year except during the monsoon on all full moon days. It can be a good low investment, low profit tourism project.”
