Narendra Modi on Uttarayan: Candid video (14 minutes)
Ahmedabad, 14 January, 2011
Patriotic songs are in air as the Chief Minister is coming.
There’s an announcement from loud speaker that the Chief Minister is coming in next five minutes.
Modi steps out of his car and people. There are dhol being played to welcome him, then there is his ceremonious welcome by the locals.
Modi flies kite, but a child is not capanble to supply string properly, Gujarat Tourism Chairman Kamlesh Patel holds ‘firki’ in his own hand. Patel was MLA of Modi’s constituency Maninagar in Ahmedabad. He had vacated Maninagar seat for Modi. Since then, whenever Modi is in Maniangar, Kamlesh Patel remain present.
One TV reporter presents flowers to Modi, and Modi reacts with laughter “media vale bhi Gandhigiri kar rahein hai”
The children are shouting slogans:Dekho Dekho Kaun Aaya, Gujarat Ka Sher Aaya(look who has come, Gujarat’s lion has come), and Vande Mataram
Then there’s Modi’s byte. He removes his cap just before completing the byte.
As soon as he completes his message on Uttarayan, Aaj Tak’s lady reporter asks him a question on price rise. Modi replies with smile that he would answer this question day after tomorrow, but not today as it is Uttarayan.
Modi again at another place flying kite.
“Common, you want to take photo? Come please, all family members come here.”
“Where is Jayantibhai’s family?”
“Jayantibhai please introduce all to me.”
Modi completes this place, and there are children demanding his autograph on kites. Modi’s body guard gives him a pen and support of black bag. Modi gives signature on kite, then another kite comes, Modi asks won’t it torn? The father of the child says “no we will keep it properly.”
Now Modi is sitting on a bed in small house, he offers sweet to a small girl.
Outside the house, one lady asks Modi for photo with her. Modi is ready.
Outside the house, Modi waves his cap in air, and there are crowds of people in the street and on the houses to cheer. The top of Modi’s car is filled with roses. ‘Vande Mataram’ slogans are in the air.
Modi enters another roof top, people cheer from all directions.
A little girl offers him a kite and rose, Modi reads what is there written on the kite.
Another kite with some writing is presented to Modi. Modi asks his body guard to put this kite in his car.
Here lots of people are gathered to shake hand with Modi, and on neighboring houses, and in the street there are more people. Modi waves his hand, a BJP flag is seen now.
Then Modi is inside the house, and he is offered lots of traditional nashta like Jalebi, Bor and others. Girls are ready here too to catch Modi in photo frame with them.
Outside the house, a woman reads out something from a note book. She gets Modi’s signature. Crowds are of course here too.
Now on next house-top Modi stands on some height, so that other people can watch him easily. There is some signaturing here too, and release of balloons. Sweets are offered again here. Modi takes some. And he is at next place where lots of roses are ready to be presented to him.
Now this house-top is interesting, because Gujarati film actress Mona Thiba is here. She says thank you to Narendra Modi for coming here. Modi meets some known faces and give ashirvad to those sho bow down. He waves hand at house-tops visible downside. There are some hundred people in all direction. Mona Thiba holds firki, Modi says “since you are holding firki, there’s no wind.”
Mona Thiba requests Modi to say something. She wants Modi to say “Metro TV(?) hai dil ke pas”, Modi says something but without brand name and differently.
The video ends with ‘Bharat Mata ki jay’.
