It is something like Diwali in air, and much more than 26th January or 15th August on roads. It’s unbelievable to see a flood of people shouting, cheering, dancing on roads. There are so many tricolour flags in the hands of the people on roads. It surprised me that these many of people possess Indian flag in this city.

As soon as the match between India and Pakistan finished, I started my tour from Ashram road, several bikers overtook me shouting slogans. Some of them had Indian flags. There was police near Mithakhali. The area called Mithakhali village was full of sounds of crackers. On Mithakhali circle, several youths were posing for Times of India’s photographer. Next was C.G.Road where for police it was tough time to control the traffic. While road was full of vehicles. Youths were sitting on windows of their cars. Some were sitting atop the car, some where on bonnet, some SUVs were full of entire family cheering. At one corner there was ‘Dhol’ being played and some people were dancing around it. More people were joining it voluntarily. Crackers were ofcourse there. Some youths were on two-wheelers with drum, some with whistles, some with nagara. This was the scene all over the road. More you are nearer to Swastik cross road, more traffic you would have to face. At Swastic cross road itself, some youths had climbed over traffic bouth and they were dancing. Dozens of people were shooting such scenes in their mobile phones(so you may get many videos of celebration on youtube in next few hours). A road from Swastik to CEPT was peaceful. But then near Gujarat University, one could see that entire L.D.Engineering hostel was on road. Traffic was against jam here. Interesting thing was that entire basti of Gulbai tekra was on road with ‘dhols’ and a big round of Garba was happening there. Then there was a big traffic jam again at Panjarapol cross road. Again people showing up from cars and on two wheelers, cheering with tricolor in hands. Some had thali and spoon to make sound.

But the most busy place in my tour was Sahjanand college cross road and Naherunagar circle. The video you are watching above is taken at that point. Going ahead, Shreyas crossing flyover was full with traffic, thanks to huge celebration going on at Dharnidhar circle. Huh and I was back to DeshGujarat’s office to submit this note. Seeing the situation of traffic, I couldn’t dare to visit Maninagar, Sattellite, S.G.road, Vastrapur etc areas.

In wall city area of Ahmedabad, Hindu pockets celebrated today’s victory like Diwali. The people living here are not so rich, but they bought crackers worth thousands fo rupees to celebrate.
