Toll tax on Rajkot-Jamnagar highway from January 1st, 2012

Rajkot, 30 December 2011

Another stretch of highway in Gujarat is now under toll regime for the commuters from January 1st, 2012.

Three toll booths will be activated on 1 January, 2012 on Rajkot-Jamnagar-Vadinar four track highway. This means if you are planing to travel between Jamangar and Rajkot of Jamnagar and Khambhaliya, you need to be ready to pay toll from now onwards.

Two-wheelers and local people will be exempted from paying toll tax. Computerized gate system has been installed at three places at present. Toll tax booth for Rajkot-Jamnagar-Vadinar stretch has been set up near Padadhari, while other two booths are set up at Soyal village near Dhrol and at Bed village near Sikka patiya. 10-lane computerized toll booths with cameras will remain in operation for next twenty years as of now. L&T has given contract to three contractors for toll collection.

To prevent confrontation with locals over the issue of toll tax, the local villagers living in 15 km distance with vehicle registered locally will be issued passes for free movement.

Those wanting to skip paying toll tax will have to travel via Kalavad instead of Dhrol on Jamnagar-Rajkot highway.
