Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modhwadia has sent a letter to Chief Minister Narendra Modi demanding removal of Adesh Pal from the post of Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University.

Followings are the main points of Modhwadis’a letter:

– There are other persons who can grace the post of Vice Chancellor, but can’t figure out why the CM appointed Adesh Pal.

-Adesh Pal was lecturer in Merath University. In 1995 he was appointed at North Gujarat University as reader of English subject. He had his wife, and two children son-daughter in his family. Unfortunately his wife passed away in 1995. There are four mathematics schools just next to the English post graduate school. A girl student from Leuva Patel community was studying in this mathematics school. Adesh Pal ran away with her and married her. This was morally incorrect behavior for a teacher, therefore Pal was not confirmed after his probation period and was kicked out from the post of reader. But later he won the case in tribunal. Even after that, the University was not wanting to take him back and was determined to go to the High Court against tribunal verdict. But BJP people in power pressurized then Vice Chancellor too much. However The Vice Chancellor did not succumb to pressure. Therefore those in power asked to put the matter in Syndicate meeting through then Governor Sundarsinh Bhandari. North Gujarat University’s Syndicate members decided to stay away from Syndicate meeting for non-corum. But BJP government used its power and sent three Secretary level officials and reappointment of Pal took place.

-Adesh Pal has habit of drinking liquor, infighting and quarrel. He has liquor permit to rescue self from liquor prohibition effective in state. This permit is valid till 2016. On health grounds, one unite permit is granted, but Pal has habit to drink too much therefore he has managed permit for 3 units in special case. Pal also chews tobacco and gutkha.

-Once, Pal had attack English department head Dr. G.V. Dave and had broken his both hands. Then Vice Chancellor had suspended him. When new VC came to power, BJP government had managed to cancel his suspension.

-Adesh Pal used to beat his son and daughter cruelly and Pal’s children had taken shelter at Gujarat University’s Senate member Kirit Patel. Drunk Adesh Pal reached Kirit Patel’s house with sword. The residential area was dominated by Leuva Patel community. When community people came to know that Pal’s house was allocated to his Leuva Patel wife, local residents of that residential society got to gather. They didn’t lodge police complain but boycotted Pal and canceled membership. In reaction to this, Pal sold this house to a Muslim person in Rs 22 lakh. Later society members intervened and the housing unit was resold to society’s member.

-Adesh Pal went to nearby society, where again he hurt his son-daughter. Therefore they took shelter at their teacher Pro. Mishra. Pal reached there also with sword. Pro. Mishra called police. Inspector Bhadoria managed to settle the issue and didn’t file a case. After few days, son-daughter returned to home. Son married his sister’s friend and came to Ahmedabad.

-Adesh Pal’s daughter arranged wedding with America based Chaudhary community youth with permission of both families, but a day before wedding, Pal’s daughter insisted that her brother(Pal’s son) and bhabhi too attend the wedding function. Angry with this, Pal attacked his daughter. One Jesing Chaudhary gave shelter to Pal’s daughter after this event. Sajjan arranged wedding of Pal’s daughter. Pal gave advertisements in newspapers announcing that the reception ceremony was canceled. Pal’s daughter and son in law are in America now.

-Adesh Pal had organized national diaspora, and had catered foreign liquor to guests in a party.

-Adesh Pal has a son from his second wide. A five-bedroom bungalow has been purchased for education of this child in Abu. Pal’s wide mostly lives in Abu for this purpose.

-The biggest value of teacher is his approach with students. The CM should investigate Pal’s approach to girl students to know about his character.

-When search committee suggested a panel of three names; Hemakshiben, professor Padalia and Adesh Pal. The BJP leader of Patan Municipality and all 15 members had given in writing to the CM that Adesh Pal should not be appointed VC. The Governor appointed Hemakshiben as VC. Adesh Pal went to High Court challenging this decision, but High Court had rejected Pal’s plea.

-Gujarat University is Gujarat’s oldest, biggest and prestigious university with 300 colleges and 3 lakh students. Shri Umashankar Joshi, Justice Miyabhai, Dr. P.C.Vaidya, Ishwarbhai Patel etc have worked here.

-I’m a student of Law faculty of this university. How this characterless, corrupt, violent, alcoholic, tobacco and gutkha chewer person with can be made the Vice Chancellor of such university? Why this wold has been left to deal with 3 lakh sons,daughters and teachers of 300 colleges of Gujarat? Why CM appointed this person on this post even after knowing everything about him?

-Immediately remove this wold from the post of Vice Chancellor and save Gujarat University’s three lakh sons, daughters and teachers, or otherwise Gujarat’s educationist will not forgive you for centuries to come.
