What Shankersinh told British Minister

Leader of opposition Shri Shankersinh Vaghela today visited a British delegation led by British minister Mr. Hugo Swire and British High Commissioner in India Mr. James Bevan.
Shri Vaghela told delegation members that, Gujarat Gas company was originally owned by Shri Mafatlal, and Shri Rishikesh Mafatlal was Managing Director of the company. Vaghela said in year 1996-97 when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat, company’s financial position was very ordinary and therefore Mr. Mafatlal wanted to sell shares of the company. With proper mediation of him and Mr. Dilip Parikh, Gujarat Gas company wanted to sell the shares to British Gas. The Gujarat government had facilitated total help.
It should be mentioned that British delegation was on a visit to Gujarat primarily for MoU signing event between British Gas and GSPC.
