Gujarat fishermen to get weather updates on mobile phone

Gujarat fishermen will now get latest updated details of coastal weather conditions right in their mobile phones through a voice call.
Gujarat Minister Babubhai Bokhiria will throw open this facility which has been catered by Government of India run Indian National Center for Oceanic Information Services(INCOIS), Hyderabad.
INCOIS has set up more than 20 coastal wave writers to execute this project. A system set up at Okha coast measures height, speed, direction of tide, wind speed and direction, temperature of surface of sea etc.
Forecast based on the data will be relayed on local TV channel, cell phone and related local centers.
Once INCOIS presses a button in its cellphone, all registered cellphones of fishermen get weather update on one go.
Opening of mobile voice call service for fishermen will be held in Okha in presence of Okha Matsya Sanshodhan Kendra’s research officer NG Akolkar and Dr. NH Joshi, MLA Pabubha Manek, Junaadh Agriculture University’s Mr. Pathak among others.
