Protest against Indian Express over reportage of Pakistani boat incident
January 05, 2015
New Delhi
A group of people belonging to a right outfit today held a protest against national daily The Indian Express over its reportage of the Pakistani boat incident off the coast of Gujarat four days back.
The group claiming to be from Hindu Sena chanted slogans against the newspaper outside its office in the ITO area of Central Delhi, alleging that the daily has been carrying “anti-national” news items relating to the boat issue.
The activists also burnt copies of January 1 edition of the newspaper that carried reports about the incident.
“The reportage of January 3 edition of The Indian Express says that the occupants of the Pakistani vessel, intercepted by the Indian Coast Guard on new year’s eve, were not terrorists. This is like speaking the language of Pakistan,” said Hindu Sena President Vishnu Gupta.
The report had suggested that the four men on board the Pakistani vessel intercepted by the Indian Coast Guard may have been “petty smugglers” and there was little evidence of a terror link.
