Draconian toll tax hike, Prantij Villagers ransack a toll booth

Demanding a facility of service road for locals, a group of 150 villagers led by Prantij MLA Mahendrasinh Bariya ransacked a toll both office in Sabarkantha district of north Gujarat.
The villagers were protesting against recent 10-fold hike in monthly pass rate at this toll booth. Monthly passes are issued to citizens of nearby villagers so that they can pass through the toll booth without paying toll tax. While original rate of single pass was Rs. 250, the new rate is Rs. 2500 according to protestors.
Protestors said they went to toll booth office to make peaceful representation, but they were insulted and asked to leave. This made them angry and therefore they ransacked the toll booth office.
To protest against a complaint filed by toll booth operator against locals, a group of farmers joined by other local people organized a rally to Prant office and demanded a service road covering all villages in 15 km radius of toll booth. They also demanded cancellation of recent took hike.
