PP Pandey back in police uniform as ADGP (Law & Order)

Gujarat government has revoked suspension of IPS PP Pandey and reinstated him back to Gujarat Police on a key post of Additional DGP(Law & Order). Pandey was released on bail in Ishrat Jahan encounter case last week by Special CBI court in Ahmedabad. He was released from Sabarmati jail on same day. As per the government rules, he was suspended due to custody period of over 48 hours. Like other cops who were released on bail and taken back to service, Pandey too is back in uniform.
“The state government has revoked the suspension order of P P Pandey and appointed him on the vacant cadre post of Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Gujarat state, Gandhinagar,” an order issued by state Home Department said.
Pandey was ADGP-CID (Crime) when he was arrested by the CBI in July 2013 after he surrendered before a court.
On February 5, a special CBI court here granted him bail in the 2004 encounter case of Ishrat Jahan and three others.
He was city Joint Commissioner of Police when the encounter took place.
