JK Governor reviews arrangements for Amarnath pilgrimage

Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra today reviewed arrangements being made for annual Amarnath pilgrimage scheduled to start from July 2.
“The Governor today reviewed the arrangements being made for Shri Amarnath Yatra that is scheduled to begin on July 2 and conclude on August 29,” an official Raj Bhawan spokesman said.
He said that the Governor was briefed about the status of helicopter services for the pilgrims, allotment of langars, tents, shops and other conveniences within and outside the pilgrimage area.
“The Governor directed CEO, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board Rakesh Kumar Gupta, to settle all matters relating to the location of langars in and outside the yatra area, keeping in view the advice of the National Disaster Management Authority,” he said.
The CEO was also instructed to meet Director General of Police to ensure that adequate and strict steps are being taken in advance, to ensure that law and order is strictly maintained during the entire duration of the pilgrimage.
The CEO was directed to hold urgent discussions with the senior officials and resolve the issue at an earliest.
“The CEO was also asked to ensure that Deputy Commissioners of Ganderbal and Anantnag districts issue tent and shop permissions strictly as per the layout plan of each yatra camp and ensure that no unauthorised tent shop was allowed to be pitched in the camps,” he said.
