At 11.44 am today, 7.7 magnitude( some reports say 7.5) tremor originating in Nepal was felt in various parts of Gujarat, particularly in high rise buildings in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and other parts.
The impact felt in Gujarat was not so massive. A company executive girl working on 8th floor of high rise building in Ahmedabad said, “we felt tremor and immediately rushed to terrace of our building, and later we stepped down and came to ground floor.”
She further said, “it was not that our chair was shaking or floor was offering any feel, it was a closed ceiling fan that was seen moving, and we came to conclusion that it was earth quake.”
In Satellite area, one gentleman said he found his chair moving and immediately rushed outside the flat where he found other neighbors too who had same feeling. The flat was in pillars. Some people said they felt tremor and aftershock both.
Another woman said,”I first thought that my chair was broken, but later realized that it was tremor. We rushed outside the flat without locking it and came to the ground floor. Later we went again to our 8th floor flat to lock it, but felt aftershock. I came to ground floor parking and drove my car outside the parking like a movie ‘fast and furious.
One woman said that on 7th floor she found crystal light shaking. Another woman said she first felt that she was having weakness but later realized it was earthquake.
Some people also realized about earthquake due to shaking utensils.
Most people said that they were familiar with earthquake due to year 2001 experience and therefore they were quick to realize that it was earthquake.
There’s no damage to any property or life due to tremor that was felt in parts of Gujarat.
