Shatrughan Sinha meets Kejriwal, praises his government

New Delhi

BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha today met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and praised the AAP government saying it was “working fine”.

Both sides played down the nearly hour-long meeting that took place at Kejriwal’s residence, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and senior AAP leader Ashutosh claiming that politics was not discussed.

“We want to open a film city in Delhi and that is what I discussed with Shatrughan Sinha in the meeting,” Kejriwal later told reporters while Sinha said discussions were about “art and culture”.

“The Noida Film City plan did not work out. So, Kejriwal explored the possibility of reviving the plan. Delhi is often considered as a base for shooting in the Himalayas. So, even this option was explored,” said a senior AAP leader.

Sinha said he “likes” Kejriwal as a Chief Minister. “His government was working fine.”

“There was no discussion on Bihar elections or any other political subject. Apart from the possibility of opening a film city we discussed the FTII issue. It’s not a crime to meet the Delhi CM,” Sinha said.

Sinha had earlier praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a bete noire of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him “a leader of the masses”, whom he had also met after Modi’s rally in Patna last month.

He had also called for “good sense” to prevail on the expulsion of 25 Congress MP’s from Lok Sabha.

“Feel unhappy about the developments in Parliament and the expulsion of 25 learned MP friends, including one who was not even present. Good sense must prevail, sooner the better. I felt sad for my friends and colleagues and pray that smooth functioning and order in Parliament is restored at the earliest,” he had said in a series of tweets.
