In a celebration of dedicating development works at the newly created Netrang taluka in Bharuch district, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today inaugurated the Seva Sadan built at a cost of Rs.12.50-crore, Community Health Centre (CHC) costing Rs.38-crore, 101 Sub-Centres costing Rs.33-crore and 40 Anganwadis costing Rs.2.36-crore.
Speaking on the occasion, she announced Rs.2-crore as special grant to the Netrang taluka, declared it as a ‘developing taluka’ after completing the necessary survey.
Mrs. Patel also launched a floating restaurant on River Narmada, ‘Dudh Sanjivani Yojna’ for 22,000 kids, 20,000 smart cards for the Tribal Welfare Cell and documents for land for tribal families living in forests.
She said that tribal people are now asking for 4-lane and 6-lane roads in their areas and join the mainstream of development works. It is under such a scheme that she announced the 44-km Ankleshwar-Jhagadia-Rajpardi Road in the remote tribal area estimated to cost Rs.244-crore.
The Chief Minister pooh-poohed objections from certain quarters against development works in the eco-sensitive zones in the tribal and forest areas, saying the ban is only on mining, there being no ban in 10-km periphery in such zones.
She said it is the responsibility of the government to provide basic educational and health facilities to the people. She asked the office-bearers, karma yogis, teachers and anganwadi women workers to apprise the people about the welfare schemes for the latter. The Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojna is one such unique scheme introduced 15 years back.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ganpatsinh Vasava, Health Minister Nitinbhai Patel, Broach In-charge Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Chhatrasinh Mori and ex-MP Bharatsinh Parmar.
Prominent among those present included MLAs Dushyantbhai Patel, Arunsinh, Ajay Choksi and Ishwarbhai Patel, District Panchayat President Manharbhai Gohil, ex-Minister Khumansinh Vasia, Collector Vikrant Pandey and DDO Anand Patel.
