The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has decided to set up a sculpture park at the Sayaji Baug here in collaboration with the city-based Heritage Trust.
The standing committee of the VMC took a decision in this regard at a meeting held yesterday, standing committee chairman Hitendra Patel told PTI.
The sculptures for the park will be provided by a prominent city-based art collector.
Sayaji Baug is a garden stretching over 113 acres, located in the middle of the city. It was dedicated to the citizens of Vadodara by Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gaekwad III in 1879. The garden is home to Baroda Museum & Picture Gallery, the Sardar Patel Planetarium, and the Sayaji Baug Zoo.
VMC commissioner H S Patel expressed hope that the sculpture park will attract more domestic and foreign tourists.
