As Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s intolerance remark drew mixed reactions, veteran actor Om Puri today demanded that he apologise to the nation.
Khan was at the centre of a raging debate after he expressed “alarm and despondency” over the “climate of intolerance” in the country followed by a remark that his wife Kiran had asked him whether they should move out of India.
65-year-old Puri also said that such remarks could incite people against each other.
“He(Aamir) should apologise to the nation for what he said. In fact, if somebody was an ordinary man he would have been arrested for saying these words. You are trying to incite people against each other,” Puri told a TV channel.
Another veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah when asked for his reaction to Aamir’s comments said that he(Shah) is a “proud Indian”.
The 66-year-old actor at the same time said that the film fraternity has voice and that it has responsibility while expressing its views.
