President dedicates 24 acre, 2000 MT output/day Amul cattle feed plant

AMUL today inaugurated its new cattle feed plant strategically placed in Kapdivav, near Kapadvanj in Kaira District on 30th November, 2015.The inauguration was done by President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The occasion was also graced by Governor of Gujarat, Shri Om Prakash Kohli, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt. Anandiben Patel and and opposition leader Shankersinh Vaghela.

Specializing in dairy production, Amul has 12 Cattle Feed plants in Gujarat with combined production capacity of more than 7000 MT per day.

In order to facilitate the required nutrition for efficient milk production, Amul provides the feed to the milk producers. This improves the health of the animal, ensures increase in milk production, improves the fat content of milk, regularizes the reproductive cycle and improves the immunity of animal. The cattle feed consists of necessary ingredients which also prevents the animal from metabolic diseases and deficiency syndromes.

Like its other plants, the new plant also produces high quality feeds at ISO 9001 certified plants ensuring stringent quality norms at each step. The state-of-the-art fully automatic Feed plant has been designed and constructed by Amul Dairy, Anand in co-ordination with M/s. Andritz Feed & Biofuel, Denmark and executed by M/s. Andrtiz Technologies Private Limited, Chennai. It is spread over 24 acres of land and has the capacity to produce 1000 metric tons per day, expandable to 2000 metric tons production per day. Many of the technologies of this Feed Plant have been introduced in India for the first time making it quite unique and technologically advanced feed manufacturing plant in India.

Commenting on the occasion, President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee said, “ “It is my privilege to be today to inaugurate the state-of-the art cattle feed manufacturing plant of AMUL. At the outset, let me congratulate AMUL for achieving yet another milestone in its illustrious journey”.

He also commented on the developments in the state by saying “Gujarat has progressed on all fronts after independence. This has been possible due to the industrious and enterprising nature of the Gujarati people. The state has some of the largest industrial corporations while its agricultural growth is amongst the highest in the country.”

In appreciation of Amul’s efforts he said, “To my mind, AMUL personifies the spirit of selfless dedication and far sighted leadership. Though your journey since 1946 from a ‘drop’ to a ‘flood’ of milk was challenging, it was made possible because of your ability to be sensitive and proactive to the needs of farmers and being dynamic to the changing circumstances. The winning combination of the AMUL experiment has been the convergence of farmer’s wisdom, democratic set-up, professional, and adoption of right technology. AMUL is truly the pride of India.”
