3 market yards of Gujarat among 21 nationwide to go online this month

3 Agriculture Produce Market Committees(APMCs or market yards) are among 21 market yards across the nation to be covered under e-market initiative of central government which is going to be launched on April 14 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as part of Digital India movement.

Himmatnagar market yard is one of three market yards in Gujarat to be covered in this pilot project. Patan and Botad are other two market yards to be covered.

According to Margesh Shah, Secretary of Himmatnagar APMC, the Rashtriya Krushi Bazar(National Agriculture Market) programme will benefit the Himmatnagar market yard which is considered a hub for wheat.

Buyers and sellers will need to register in market yard to get benefit of this programme. So far 50 have registered for e-market in Himmatnagar market yard.

To register self, farmers will need to produce Aadhar card copy, bank passbook copy and a photograph. For online trade, laboratory report of produce that includes proportion of daghi wheat, proportion of moisture, proportion of kankar/kachra in wheat stock. Online price of particular stock of wheat will be decided as per the laboratory report.

While Himmatnagar market yard will offer online market of wheat, the Botad market yard will offer same for Chana and Patan market yard will offer same for castor.

For a market yard, facilities such as a way bridge, auction hall, computers, printer, internet, laboratory, digital camera are required for eligibility of inclusion in e-market programme.

In one-year pilot project which will run on experimental basis, the cost of project will be borne by the central government. The project will be reviewed at the end of one year and if market yards find it worth, they will borne the cost of computer operator’s cost and other expenditures.

Almost all other market yards across the nation will be covered under this programme gradually in span of next three years.
