81 more villages declared scarcity-hit in Gujarat

Gujarat government has declared 81 more villages as scarcity affected and also taken a decision to supply fodder to 31 villages of Halal taluka of Panchmahal district at affordable rate. This decision was taken today by Cabinet Sub Committee on water scarcity in Gandhinagar.

According to minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama who is heading the sub committee, out of 81 villages declared scarcity-hit today 27 are from Porbandar, 20 from Ranavav and 34 from Kutiyana belt.

At present 994 villages across Gujarat are declared partial scarcity hit while 353 are declared scarcity hit. Thus there are total 1347 affected villages.

According to government, 11,518 works are going on in 4,148 villages involving 4,11,000 labourers. 192 fodder depots are functional in 9 districts. 85,000 needy farmers are given fodder cards. 681 tankers are operated to supply water in 509 villages and 1042 para areas. Number of teams for rink (to create bore well) are being increased as per need.
