Heat wave returns to Gujarat, Idar hottest at 46 degree

After some days of respite heat-wave is back in several parts of Gujarat again. Idar with maximum temperature of 46 degree Celsius remained the hottest today while over a dozen places across the state recorded temperatures in excess of 40 degree.
Ahmedabad recorded the maximum temperature of 44.9 degrees which was over 4 degrees above normal. Even the lowest temperature in the city was 30.2, 2.2 degree above normal. Idar had the minimum temp of 32.2.
The reason for the return of the heat wave is the dry weather, scorching sun and westerly and north westerly wind bringing heat from the northern parts.
The met department has issued warnings of heat wave in parts of North Gujarat and Kutch region for the coming two days. Its forecast also says that light rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region while dry weather very likely in the districts of North Gujarat region, Saurashtra, Kutch during this period.
The maximum temperature at various places during the past 24 hours is as following – PORBANDAR 35.6, AHMEDABAD 44.9, RAJKOT 43.6, DEESA 44.9, VERAVAL 32.8, GANDHI NAGAR, 45.0, IDAR 46.0 SURENDRANAGAR 45.3, V.V. NAGAR 43.7, MAHUVA 36.6, VADODARA 44.1, BHUJ 43.5 SURAT 36.0 KANDLA PORT 41.6 AMRELI 44.5 KANDLA AIRPORT 44.1, BHAVNAGAR 40.8 DWARKA 33.0.
