CM designate Rupani and his deputy Patel meet Governor to stake formal claim to form new govt

Gandhiangar: Designated Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and his deputy Nitin Patel today met Governor O P Kohli here along with BJP state unit in-charge Dinesh Sharma and other leaders to stake claim to form the new government in the event of their selection as the leader and deputy leader of the BJP legislature party in the wake of the resignation of outgoing CM Mrs Anandiben Patel. and to request him to invite them for oath taking.

The duo will take take oath tomorrow at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

Mr Sharma, who handed over the letter to the governor in the Rajbhavan in the presence of Mr Rupani, Mr. Patel and other leaders including union minister of state for agriculture Purushottam Rupala, later told newsmen that the oath taking would take place at 1240 pm at Mahatma Mandir tomorrow. The Governor has given his consent to be present and administer oath.

‘We handed him over the letter informing about the selection of Mr Rupani and Mr Patel as leader and deputy leader of the legislature party yesterday and annexed another related document with Mr Nitin Gadkari’s signature who was one of the two central observer for the selection process,’ he said.

To a query he also said that both the leaders will take oath and it would be decided in due course as to how many ministers would join them.

Mr Sharma said that the party is sending invitations to many chief ministers and other political and non-political dignitaries for the oath taking.

Earlier Mr. Rupani and Mr Patel along with other leaders assembled at the residence of senior minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma from where they moved to Rajbhavan.

Meanwhile a high level meeting of the ruling BJP has been convened today in its state headquarters Shrikamalam to discuss the nitty gritty of the formation process of the next government including the ministers.
