Poor day for Vaghani for two reasons

Ahmedabad: It was a poor day for Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani. First, he was in news throughout the day for non-bailable warrant issued against him and his partners by Mumbai court in cheque bounce case. The news story on this first appeared on the front page of English daily and later the opposition party issued detailed press release with related documents of the case. BJP reacted to the allegations late in the afternoon via TV byte and later in the evening via press release.

Another poor thing that happened to Vaghani was Congress’s victory on three municipality seats in Vaghani’s own district Bhavnagar in by-polls, results of which were declared yesterday. Four seats in three municipalities went for by-polls in Bhavnagar district in which Congress candidates won three seats. Congress candidate Yogesh Dangar won Valbhipur ward – 5 seat by margin of 477 votes while in Mahuva ward – 2 Congress’s Pushpaben Thakar won by 646 votes. On Sihor ward -7 seat, Congress’s Subhash Rathod won by 97 vote margin. Only one seat BJP could win in Bhavnagar district was in Sihor where BJP’s Natubhai town by margin of 107 votes.

Vaghani was chosen as State BJP president last year because party wanted some young Patel leader from Saurashtra as chief in wake of Patidar quota stir and related damages.
