PM to unveil roadmap for conservation of Narmada at Amarkantak on Monday

Bhopal:Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a roadmap for the conservation of Narmada river at Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh tomorrow during the concluding function of ‘Namami Devi Narmade Sewa Yatra’ which is part of conservation campaign for Narmada which was launched last year. Amarkantak is the place where Narmada river originates.
The Namami Devi Narmade Sewa Yatra, which was started on December 11, 2016 from Amarkantak, will conclude tomorrow after covering a distance of 3,344 km and passing through over 1,100 villages/towns.Narmada flows over a length of 1,312 km before draining through the Gulf of Khambhat into the Arabian Sea.
PM Modi will take part in ‘Narmada Pujan’ and address a gathering in the afternoon in presence of chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, BJP national president Amit Shah, union water resources and environment and forest ministers among others.
During his recent visit in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in his Botad speech admired Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister for holding conservation campaign for Narmada. PM had opined that Gujarat should be thankful to Madhya Pradesh CM for holding such yatra because if Narmada is not conserved, Gujarat would face a major problem of water. What Shivraj Singh is doing in MP is very important for future generations of Gujarat. Modi had pointed out that unlike other rivers, Narmada river originates from forests.
