Bajrang Dal workers lockdown Gujarat Congress headquarters

Ahmedabad: Amid ongoing state-wide protests against the Kerala cow-slaughter incident, a group of protesters, which Congress claims to be members of Bajrang Dal and sympathizers of ruling BJP, locked the state party headquarters, burnt its flag hoisted there and wrote anti-party slogans on its boundary-wall in the wee hours today.

Around 10-15 protesters reached the party headquarters known as Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan situated in Ellisbridge police station area of the city.

They wrote ‘Gau Hatyari Congress’ (Cow killer Congress) at several places on the boundary wall of the office, which was later white-washed by the party. They also locked the main gate from outside and burnt the party flag hoisted there. The protestors chanted anti Congress slogans.

Congress Spokesperson Manish Doshi said that a case would be registered in this matter in Ellis bridge police station. He claimed that the party has the CCTV footage of the incident and the protestors were Bajrang Dal activists and BJP sympathizers, who ran away when the office guard challenged them.

Congress office in Vadodara city was also attacked day before yesterday while effigies of the party and its top leadership were burnt at various places including Surat, Rajkot, Kutch and Junagadh to protest the incident in Kannur of Kerala where youth Congress leaders and activist publicly killed a cow and marched with its bleeding head before a beef party.

Vice Chairman of Gujarat Gau Seva Aayog (cow welfare commission) Chaitanya Shambhu Maharaj is going to start a 48 hours fast here from today to protest against the incident.

For last few days, Congress is facing several protests in Gujarat against the incident of cow slaughtering in Kerala in Youth Congress protest programme. Congress has suspended its three cadres including office bearers of Youth Congress for the incident.Police in Kerala has booked those responsible for slaughter of cow in public. However Congress has not taken action against any party members or office bearers for giving statewide beef festival call under which cow head was paraded by NSUI workers, beef was cooked and sold at public places openly by Congress and left party workers.
