Met issues very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall warning for Gujarat, system on alert

Ahmedabad: Met department has issued waring of heavy to very heavy rain fall for the next five days with special caution for the period from July 14 to 16 during which some extremely heavy spells could be witnessed and the fishermen have been advised to not to venture in to sea along or off Gujarat coast.
Even as light to moderate rain ocurred in 65 talukas of 19 districts including Ahmedabad till 6 in the evening today with Khergaon in Navsari and Wagahi in Dangs seeing maximum of around one and a half inches, more spells of rain in the night are predicted. Ahmedabad also remained cloudy all day long with some spells of rain and drizzle
Meanwhile the flood control office said that all precautioary measures to deal with any situation arising owing to rain has been made. Teams of NDRF are also kept on alert. The district administrations of the concerned districts have also been sent alerts and advise.
In-charge Director of Ahmedabad IMD center and senior meteorologist Manorama Mohanty said that owing to the conversion of two systems currently lying over UP and MP in deep depression Gujarat would receive good amount of rain in next five day with some heavy to extremely heavy spells.

Heavy rain very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Valsad and in the adjoining union territories of Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli on July 12.
Heavy rain very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Valsad, Navsari; Saurashtra-Kutch namely Bhavnagar, Amreli and in UT of Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli on July 13.
Heavy to very heavy rain at few places with isolated extremely heavy falls very likely in the districts of Gujarat region namely Dahod, Chotaudaipur, Panchmahal, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand; Saurashtra-Kutch namely Surendranagar, Morbi, Rajkot, Botad, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Jamnagar and in UT of Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli on July 14 and 15.
Heavy rain very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Heavy to very heavy rain very like at isolated places in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Surendranagar, Morbi, Porbandar, Kutch and in UT of Diu on July 16.
Port Warning for July 14 to 16: Due to active monsoon condition, Squally weather is likely to prevail near the ports along Gujarat coast. Sea condition will be moderate to rough along and off Gujarat coast during
Fishermen warning: Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Sea along and off Gujarat coast during 14 to 16 th July.
Notably, Gujarat has so far received around 28 % of its average monsoon rain.
