Ahmedabad: The official Jersey of Gujarat Fortune Giants, one of the four new teams to be introduced from the fifth season of Pro Kabaddi League, was released here today.

Managing Director of team owner Adani Wilmar Limited, Pranav Adani, Chief Operating Officer Angshu Mallick, Dangal film fame iconic free style wrestler Geeta Phogat, two coaches Neer Gulia and Manpreet Singh and captain Sukesh Hegde were present on the occasion.

Adani on the occasion said that he wanted to take Kabaddi to the next level in Gujarat as well as India. ‘The second most watched game after cricket in India should gets its rightful place. There is ample talent in Gujarat which need catalyst to come to fore. Entrepreneurship and business is in our blood but we must also excel in sports. Sports like Kabaddi in which all the players remain active all the time during the game unlike cricket where apart from the batsman and bowler others remain passive, are good for health as well. For a healthy nation and state such sports need to be promoted ,’ he said.

Phogat wished all the best for the team for its first season and said that there was nothing that was not possible with hard work and dedication.

Both the coaches said that Gujarat was a young side with high energy level which was crucial for the game and especially the season 5 of the league which would be of 90 days instead of earlier 45. ‘We have made special strategy for fitness and to avoid injuries as it is of prime importance. We will win the title,’ he said.

Captain Hegde leading the team makes him happy but at the same time looks challenging.

Notably, the fifth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League would start from July 28 and keep going for 3 months with the final to be played on October 28. Four new teams have been introduced for this season thus making it a league of 12 teams.

The 18 member Gujarat team has 3 oversees players as well.
