BJP comfortably wins both assembly seats in Goa by-election

Ahmdabad: BJP candidate and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has won Panaji by-poll by a margin of 4,803 votes defeating nearest rival candidate Girish Raya Chodankar of Indian National Congress.
Parrikar won 63.67% of total votes while rival Congress candidate could get 32.56% votes. Goa Suraksha Manch candidate Anand Shirodkar could get 220 votes which comes to 1.42 percentage while Independent Kenneth Ian Stewart Silveira could get merely 96 votes which comes to 0.62% of total. 301 votes went to None of the Above option which comes to 1.94% of total.
Total number of votes was 15,538 of which Parrikar got 9,862 while Congress candidate got 5059 votes.
On Valpoi seat, BJP candidate Vishwajit Pratapsingh Rane won by margin of 10,087 votes defeating nearest rival candidate Roy R Naik of Congress. Vishwajit got 70.19% votes while Congress candidate could get 26.45% votes. Independent candidate got 316 votes(1.37%). Total number of votes was 23,063.
