Ahmedabad:
Gujarat High Court Advocates Association has given a strike/boycott of work call tomorrow to protest against the decision of the collegium which transferred the former acting chief justice of Gujarat High court and senior judge of Karnataka High Court Justice Jayant Patel to Allahabad High Court which reportedly led to his resignation.
The Association has also appealed around 250 lower courts bar associations across Gujarat to join the day long boycott of court’s work.
GHCA president Asim Pandya today said that Patel was suddenly transferred from Gujarat to Karnataka and now when he was likely to become the acting Chief Justice there he was suddenly transferred to Allahabad. Though he has not cited any reason in his resignation, this is understood to be the reason behind his sudden decision.
‘We have also passed a resolution against this decision,’ he said.
