Coast Guard commissions IB C- 437, multifarious ship can attain speed up to 45 knots

The Indian Coast Guard ship, C- 437, a multifarious interceptor boat with displacement of 106 tons and a maximum speed of 45 knots, was today commissioned at CG jetty here.
The boat is 27.80 mtrs in length and is capable of undertaking multifarious task such as surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue and rendering assistance to boats and craft in distress at sea.
The boat is provided with advanced navigational and communication equipment for safe navigation. The quick reaction ability coupled with modern equipment and systems provides her the capability to respond to any maritime situation. The ship is commanded by Asst Commandant Varun Raj S and will be based at Jakhau.
The induction is a part of ongoing efforts by the Coast Guard to strengthen coastal security. It will strengthen the security umbrella of West coast and also help augment patrolling to prevent illicit activities such as infiltration, smuggling and illegal fishing.
The ship will be under the administrative and operational control of the Commander Coast Guard Region (North West). Additional Director General K Natarajan, PTM, TM, Coast Guard Commander (West Seaboard) commissioned the Interceptor Boat built by M/s L&T Limited, in the presence of IG Rakesh Pal, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (NW) and other distinguished guests from various Central and State agencies.
