Supreme Court rejected Congress party’s prayers in its plea in Karnataka case: BJP
May 18, 2018
New Delhi: Reacting to Supreme Court’s order on government formation process in Karnataka, BJP today said the Congress claim of moral victory in this court case is wrong. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra addressing a press conference at party’s national headquarters said the Supreme Court rejected both prayers made by Congress in its petition – 1. to invalidate Governor’s decision to call BJP to form government and 2. issuance of direction to Governor to call Congress-JDS to form government.
Patra said legality of letter of Yeddyuarappa to Governor has been established in the Supreme Court.
Patra criticized Rahul Gandhi for comparing Indian Courts to that of Pakistan a day ago.
Patra in reference to reports regarding what happened in the Supreme Court today said, the Supreme Court was told that no signed letter with signatures of MLAs was ever submitted to Governor by Congress and there was no such letter in Governor’s file. On this when court asked Mr. Singhvi whether he had any acknowledgement about said letter, Mr. Singhvi could not reply positively.
Patra said, the Supreme Court today said, the post of Governor was higher constitutional post, any personal allegation should not be made against such post. Congress, especially Rahul Gandhi however continues to pass remark about Supreme Court Chief Justice, President, Prime Minister, Army chief which shows their disappointment.
