Highways connecting Patan to Harij, Sidhpur and Unjha to be converted to four-lane

Patan: Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel on Monday laid foundation stone for Rs 256 crore road works in Patan district.

According to details shared by him, a 27-km highway connecting Harij to Patan will be converted to four lane at a cost of Rs 75 crore. The highway connecting Patan to Unjha which is 18.600 km long will also be converted to four lane at a cost of Rs 55 crore. A 28.600 km long Patan – Sidhpur road will be converted to four lane at a cost of Rs 73 crore. Sidhpur – Kheralu road which is 20.800 km in length will also be converted to four lane at a cost of Rs 53 crore. All these highway stretches are presently 10 meter wide. The government will in-total spend Rs 203 crore for widening of roads connecting pilgrim places of Unjha, Sidhpur and Harij.

Patel said, in last three years 618 roads are built in Patan district at a cost of Rs 1089 crore, while Rs 125 crore have been spent on housing. Total 1400 km roads are built in Patan city and district.

He said, under ‘Ayushyaman’ scheme of the Centre, as many as 5.76 lakh people wil benefit in Patan district covering 59 hospitals and 1700 types of illness. In all, 2.25 crore people will benefit from this scheme across Gujarat.
