Gandhinagar: To expedite the land acquisition for ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, Gujarat government has decided to revise the compensation rates for the same.
Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel today said that the state government was resolute to take forward this dream project of PM Narendra Modi, who was a loved son of Gujarat.
He said that during the ongoing land acquisition process, requests for more compensation to the farmers whose land was in urban area/development authority were received. CM Vijay Rupani has taken a significant decision for expediting the land acquisition process and adequate compensation.
‘In the urban area as per the policy of the union government, compensation equal to two times of market price would be given and in rural areas it would be four times the market price. In case of consent award 25% more price than that of original award would be given,’ he said.
For the bullet train project around 681 hectare land of 196 villages of eight districts in Gujarat is to be acquired. Of these the second phase has been completed in 185 villages,’ he informed.
He also said that the compensation to those with consent agreement would be increased due to the new formula of Jantri price and Income tax indexation formula.
Notably, speculative news reports about JICA “stopping” funding for the project due to compensation issues were rejected by NHSRCL yesterday.
The matter regarding compensation and other related issues was also reached court.
