CM chairs high-level meeting with Railway top brass for rail projects in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupanipresided a high-level meeting with senior officers of the State Government officers and Indian Railways top brass here today in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel to review the progress of railway projects in Gujarat.

Others present at the meeting included Chief Secretary J.N. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary for Finance Arvind Agrawal, Additional Chief Secretary for Revenue Pankaj Kumar and Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary M. K. Das, Railway Board Chairman and Member Technical and Member Finance. They decided to maintain co-ordination to develop the projects as Role Models for India.

The work on Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), including land acquisition, is progressing fast and is expected to be completely ready by December 2021, and phase-1 to be operational by March 2020.

The meeting decided to extend support to the Railways in land settlement and other requirements fast to link Vadodara with the ‘Statue of Unity’ developed as global tourist centre at Kevadia.

It was also decided that Gujarat Government will allot land at 50 per cent concession for the country’s first Railway University at Vadodara. It discussed how to expedite Surat Railway Station Redevelopment Project on fast track basis, and the multi-storied project at Gandhinagar railway station.
