Live: PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Garvi Gujarat Bhavan in New Delhi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated ‘Garvi Gujarat’, the second state bhawan of the Gujarat government in the national capital.

Modi was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and former chief minister Anandiben Patel, who is currently Uttar Pradesh governor, as he inaugurated and walked through the complex built over more than 7,000 sq metres of area at Akbar Road.

Rupani said that this is the “first eco-friendly” state bhawan in the national capital. It cost Rs 131 crore and was completed three months ahead of the deadline, he added.

The bhawan has been described a mix of traditional and mordern architecture with a rich reflection of the western state’s culture.

– 7,066 square meter campus.

-Seven storey building with two basements.

– The building is constructed at a cost of Rs. 128 crore in less than two years period.

– Foundation stone laying took place on 25 September, 2017. Inauguration on 2nd September, 2019.

– There are 79 rooms, VIP lounge, 200-capacity multi purpose hall, business centre, souvenir shop.

– Eco friendly building with facility of rain water harvesting.

– Solid waste generation, e-waste generation, hazards waste generation, sludge generation removal facility through sewage treatment plant.

– Solar power generation plant, chilling plant.

– Art display from all regions of Gujarat, Kutchi art work, Dang’s Warli paintings, Modhera sun temple’s glimpse.

– Handicrafts of Gujarat to be available at Suovenier shop of Gujarat Bhawan.

– Gujarati traditional tasty food items will also be catered at Gujarat Bhawan.
