BSF finds 2 drug packets worth Rs 10 crore from creek area in Gujarat during search after recovery of abandoned Pakistani boats

Bhuj:In second such recovery in two days, the Border Security Force (BSF) today again found a drug packet from creek area in Kutch district of Gujarat adjoining Pakistan, a senior BSF official said.
The worth of the drugs in the two packets recovered yesterday and today was almost Rs 10 crore and these packets were part of the over 130 such packets thrown in the sea by six Pakistani drug smugglers who along with their boat ‘Al-Madina’ were caught by the Indian coast guards in May this year. Apart from the thrown ones , 194 such drug packets containing brown sugar/heroin were recovered from the seized boat.
The official said that the patrol team of 108 th battalion of the BSF which was on a search mission in the wake of the recent recovery of two abandoned Pakistani boats in the creek area, found one such packet in Lucky creek area yesterday evening and another one today. These are similar to over a dozen such packets recovered from the coast of Kutch district so far and the ones found in the seized Pakistani boat.
The BSF and police teams had found almost 15 such packets in May, June and July this year in the marshy creek area adjoining Arabian sea off Kutch district in Gujarat.
He said that on May 23, the coast guards had caught a Pakistani boat with 6 crew off Jakhau coast and recovered more than 200 kg of such drugs. Before that large quantity of such drugs packed in 136 packets and in turn kept in 11 big sacks were thrown in the sea. The drugs being found now were from the same lot which were being washed away to the shore and creek area by waves.
