Coast Guard recovers 19 packets of Charas in Jakhau

Bhuj: India Coast Guard patrol team has recovered 21.4 kg of Charas in 19 packets amounting to Rs. 32 lakhs close to Jakhau harbour. Jakhau is coastal place with a small port facility in border district Kutch in Gujarat. It is close to neighboring country Pakistan. According to Indian Coast Guard, the packets of Charas recovered have been handed over to Marine Police for legal formalities. This is not first instance in which packets of narcotics have been found in Jakhau. Such recoveries take place regularly here.

Official note: On 06 July 21, during routine patrol by Indian Coast Guard Hovercraft, 19 packets of suspicious narcotics substance weighing about 21.4 Kgs have been recovered in unclaimed condition from the shallow water area of Kutch coast near Jakhau. The initial testing of substance indicative of Hashish/ Marijuana worth 32 lakhs in international market. Indian Coast Guard in consultation with other security and intelligence agencies has stepped surveillance efforts in area to rule out possibility of any such consignment hidden or washed ashore in area.
