AMC shuts Nehru bridge, Kalupur markets, declares walled city area as buffer zone

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today decided to close Nehru bridge over river Sabarmati closed for traffic. The AMC also ordered Kalupur vegetable and fruit markets and other shops in the area to shut.
Walled City has been declared as a buffer zone for coronavirus containment. All persons entering or existing the area will face restrictions and screening using infrared thermometers.
AMC has appealed citizens to avoid visiting walled city.
Coronavirus check posts will be set up at 9 gates of wall city.
Police and health teams will be deployed there.
These decisions were taken in a meeting between AMC and City police.
In another initiative, Jamalpur (in Amdavad city) APMC was shifted to Jetalpur today (Outside Amdavad city). Arrival of vegetables was normal and as per routine according to Ashwani Kumar, Secretary in Chief Minister’s office who added that Surat APMC which was closed due to overcrowding will reopen tomorrow with proper arrangements planned by administration and police.
