Curfew in Jangleshwar area of Rajkot from midnight

Gandhinagar: A densely populated 2.5 square meter area of Jangleshwar and Raj Lakshmi Society in Rajkot, both under Bhaktinagar Police Station have been put under curfew with effect from midnight today. There are around 50,000 people living in this area which has seen rising number of Coronavirus cases.
This announcement was made by State DGP Shivannd Jha in media briefing. He added that 8 horse riders of Gujarat Police will be deployed for vigil on Aaji river bank area of Jangleshwar.
Earlier in the day, to take stock of the situation emerging out due to sharp rise in transmission of pandemic ‘COVID-19’ in Jungleshwar area of Rajkot city, Chief Minister Rupani had urgently held a video conference with Rajkot Collector, Municipal Commissioner, Police Commissioner, and In-charge Mr. Rahul Gupta. The Chief Minister had instructed the Rajkot district administration to take further comprehensive measures to curb the transmission of the Coronavirus and stringent implementation of the lockdown orders. The Chief Minister had instructed the authorities to announce imposition of curfew in Jungleshwar area from Friday midnight.
It’s worth noting that a 32-year old person from Jangleshwar was among first three Covid19 cases detected in the State. He had visited Medina with 10 relatives. After reaching Mumbai, they boarded Saurashtra Janta Express from Bandra and reached Rajkot on March 9. They were all quarantined.
